Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa.
The country of Zimbabwe holds a hand-full of wonderful sites and places of interest, but most of them are rarely visited by tourists nowadays, as the politic and economic situation resulted in civil unrest in many areas of the country. Zimbabwe was one of the most developed touristic destinations in Africa some 20 years ago as it has the spectacular Victoria Falls, many ancient ruins and more than 11% of the territory of the country is covered by natural parks and protected territories.
Nowadays the tourist interest is slowly coming back as the country is trying to normalize its internal affairs. Apart form the majestic Victoria Falls, worth visiting are the great Lake Kariba, the Eastern highlands, the biggest Hwange National Park, the hot Mopani Forest, the ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe and many game viewing zones like Matusadona, Mana Pools and Zambezi National Parks. Zimbabwe holds also several safari areas for hunting.
