Livingstone is the old colonial capital of Zambia in Africa.
The town of Livingstone packs quite a collection of old colonial buildings, which virtually outnumber the newly build ones in the town. It is most known by its close proximity to the major tourist attraction in Zambia - Victoria Falls.
The town of Livingstone owns its name to the founder of the Victoria Falls - missionary and explorer David Livingstone. In its highs between 1911 and 1935 it was the capital of the British colony of Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia.
Livingstone deserves a quick walk to see its interesting architecture and century old buildings, but the main attractions of the are lay outside of the own. Apart from the majestic Victoria Falls, the area offers excellent big game watching, bungee jumps from the 111m high bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe across the river Zambezi, wonderful rafting and white water sports opportunities.
