Ho Chi Minh City, previously known as Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, the city came to be known as Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh was once called the Diamond of the Far East because of its luxurious atmosphere, but due to overpopulation, the title was dropped.
Ho Chi Minh City emanates an ‘always on the move' ambiance because of the many motorbikes that zoom past and the crowded streets. Tall buildings are seen left and right since Saigon is Vietnam's business capital. One of the most frequently visited Ho Chi Minh attractions is the Reunification Palace which takes you back to the 60s when Saigon was still glorious. The Ngon Restaurant is a must visit if you are interested in sampling traditional Vietnamese dishes and if you want to watch the Vietnamese Water Puppet Show. Ho Chi Minh City has great hotels and affordable inns, posh restaurants and street food stalls, not to mention designer shops and bazaars that attract tourists from all over.
