Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is Central Asia's main transport hub and its largest city. Tashkent was a key trading centre in the early days, being part of the Great Silk Road. Little was left of the ancient city after it was ruined by an earthquake in 1966. However, a team of people from other nations helped the city rise from this tragedy by rebuilding it into a modern Soviet city.
After the facelift, the city had parks, large plazas, monuments, fountains, and numerous apartment blocks, which ultimately made it one for the most cosmopolitan cities in Uzbekistan.
Among the city's most notable attractions, the Downtown Tashkent is where one will find the usual city conveniences like banks and hotels. Another is the Old Town, which is home to the Chorsu Bazaar, Kukeldash Medressa, Tellya Sheikh Mosque, and Architectural Complex Zengi-Ata.
For more contemporary pleasures, tourists will find fun inside the Tashkentland and Aqua Park, theme parks that boast many leisurely diversions.
