Bukhara is Uzbekistan's 5th largest city. It's a historic city that has been inhabited for more than 5,000 years, and was notably a part of the Great Silk Road. Due to Bukhara's rich and long history, many of its architecture like mosques and madrassas are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, particularly those that are located in the city's Old Town.
Tourists who visit the city will not be disappointed as there are many attractions to see and fill their days. There's the Kalon Minaret, which was built by the legendary Arslan Khan in 1127 and is the city's iconic landmark. The Ark Citadel, Labi-havz, and Maghoki Attar Mosque are among the city's most revered landmarks.
While in Bukhara travellers can live like a local by going to the popular bazaars of Taqi-Telpak Furushon and Taqi-Zaragon, or dare to enter the famed hamoni or bath Hammam Borzi Kord. For the less adventurous, see the Folklore and Fashion Show or savour the rich cuisines at the myriad restaurants within the city.
