Carmelo is a little town that offers some serenity and relaxation. It is known as the part of Uruguay with several beautiful beaches and resorts, specifically ones on the La Plata River banks. The waters are clear and inviting and the sands are usually white and enticing. Carmelo is also in close proximity to the Argentine Border so if you plan to visit Uruguay and then head off to Argentina as well, this city is a recommended spot.
