Uzhhorod is a city situated in the western side of Ukraine. It was named after the Uzh River, which divides the city in 2. However, this city formerly known as Ungvar, only used its current name in the beginning of the 20th century. The town buzzes with energy, and with its tree-lined river banks is certainly quite pretty.
The perfect time to visit is during autumn. It's harvest time for grapes and thus the ideal season to be having the Troyanda Zakarpatya and Beregivske, Transcarpathia's best-known wines. And because the population of Uzhhorod is multiethnic, tourists will find it an extremely fascinating place to visit.
Among the city's must-see attractions are The Uzhhorod Castle, which was built in the 9th century, and the Goranska Rotonda, which is the oldest structure in the city. There are also The Greek-Catholic Cathedral and The Transcarpathian Architecture and Lifestyle Museum. A stroll through the Old Downtown area and Korso completes any trip to this quaint, picturesque city.
