Odessa, the 4th largest city in Ukraine, is a vital seaport on the northwestern shores of the Black Sea. It was once an integral part of the country's shipping industry, as well as a key USSR port during the Soviet era. Today, Odessa is a becoming a prime destination for cruise passengers and adventure seekers.
Aside from its port, Odessa is popular for its excellent therapeutic resorts, clinic, and beaches. More than that, the city boasts some of the grandest architectures in the nation including the Vorontsov's Palace, Odessa Opera & Ballet Theater, and Uspensky Cathedral. But its most famous tourist attraction is the Potemkin Steps, which was made famous by the film The Battleship Potemkin.
For some enriching cultural trips, Odessa's main museum, Museum of Western and Eastern Art, holds a large collection of 16th- to 20th-century European art, as well as the Pushkin Museum. For something more adventurous, the Odessa catacombs labyrinthine underground tunnels are a must-visit.
