Tamerza is a small oasis town in the dry mountains of Tunisia in Africa.
The town of Tamerza is situated deep inside Tunisia at a site, where the ancient roman town of Ad Turres has been. There however are no remains of this time, but plenty of ruins from 1969, when the town was abandoned due to a major flood, which destroyed most of the buildings. Some were restored at a later stage, but there are still many evidence of this devastation.
Tamerza is mainly known by tourists for to its natural landmarks. It is close to a picturesque gorge, which in ancient times was a mighty river, but nowadays offers just 2 very beautiful waterfalls in the otherwise dry and stony desert scenery. The gorge itself is quite an attraction with all the turns and interesting stone formations that can be seen there.
