Amstelkring Museum (Our Lord in the Attic Chapel)
This museum (also called Our Lord in the Attic Chapel) is housed in a charming canal house with 17th-century period rooms and, as a surprise to many visitors, a clandestine church in the attic, which was used by the Roman Catholics who were not allowed to worship publicly after 1578.

Visitors to Anne Frank Huis with a particular interest in the war experience and Nazi occupation will find a trip to the Verzetsmuseum (Dutch Resistance Museum, Plantage Kerklaan 61. Entry €5,50) worthwhile. A detailed colour booklet, "Persecution and resistance in Amsterdam" is available from Anne Frank Huis for 50 eurocents containing a walking map with full directions between the two establishments passing by over 30 places of war interest, each described in the booklet.
