Arusha

Arusha is a Tanzanian city known by many as the entry way to Africa's Northern Safari Circuit. It is located at the bottom part of Mount Meru. Wheat, maize and coffee fields and plantations also abound in Arusha.
There are a couple of things tourists will enjoy in Arusha. One is the tour to some of the Tanzanian villages that will give you a good overview on the culture of the people. You'll learn some of the legends, learn more about the local economy and agriculture in the city. If you're adventurous and physically fit, you can try climbing Mount Neru which is one of the highest mountains in Africa. Just be prepared with clothing that can keep you warm and sleeping bags as it will take a couple of days or more for you to complete the climb. Arusha also has markets wherein you can purchase food, handicrafts and handmade bead jewellery. Do not think of Arusha as ‘just a stop over' -- there are several fun things you can do there.
