Ptuj

Ptuj is one of Slovenia's oldest towns. Ptuj enjoyed its best times during the Roman Period. Today the Ptuj area is home to many wine cellars, thermal springs and a number of fairs. Here there are centuries-old traditions with an endless array of local specialties, a truly romantic atmosphere and a myriad of health spas to heal your mind, body and spirit. Being one of the oldest cities in the country, Ptuj has a rich heritage that is evident in its medieval center that remains preserved, as it was years and years ago. The castle that sits above the town center has a museum with a number of collections, wine cellars underneath it and a limitless number of archaeological artifacts from the ancient Mithra temples. With recent investment into the infrastructure, the town has become even more attractive as a tourist destination.
