Bled

Bled is located in the northwestern part of Slovenia in the Upper Carniola region. Bled is in the popular area of the Julian Alps and a very popular destination for tourism. One of the most popular places in Bled is glacial Lake Bled. The town is famous in Slovenia for its delicious kremma rezina, a pastry that is cream and vanilla filled.   The town has become known as a health retreat for its mild climate and is visited by aristocrats from around the world. Today it has become a tourist resort and an important destination for conventions. In the area around Bled, you can enjoy golf, horseback riding, fishing and boating. Many use the town as a base for their treks to the Alps including Triglav National Park which is very close by. Bled Island is another unique destination. The island is home to Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church where often times, visitors rings its bells to bring them good luck.
