Levoca is a small Renaissance town in Slovakia, Central Europe.
The city of Levoca is known as former king's recidence in the Middle Ages, which made it one well fortified castle for the time. Nowadays more than 80% of the castle walls are preserved and form one of the attractions of the city.
Rest of the city architecture dates mostly from the Renaissance with several remarkable buildings, that deserve a visit like: St. James Cathedral, holding the world's biggest wooden altar of Master Paul of Levoca; Renaissance town hall and Medieval cage of shame; Neo-Classical Lutheran Church; Baroque Church of the Holy Spirit; Gothic Cloister in the Minorite“s Monastery; Master Paul's House; The Large Provincial House; Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Spis Area Museum. Another interesting attraction close to Levoca is Spissky Hrad castle, which is the biggest partually preserved fortification in Central Europe.
