Kosovo is considered a de-facto country that's part of Serbia and Montenegro. It is known for having violent fights and disputes with Serbia, and in 2008, Kosovo declared independence. For many centuries, people of different religions and cultures have been fighting in Kosovo, specifically since 1389 when the Ottomans won the battle against Albanians and Serbians. Because of this long history, many people become interested in visiting Kosovo.
Pristina is Kosovo's capital city, where the National Museum of Kosovo is located. Aside from the museum, interesting Kosovo attractions found in Pristina are magnificent mosques that have been built during the Ottoman Empire. The Decani Monastery is also found in Kosovo – it is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its display of interesting frescoes depicting the medieval era. If historical attractions are what you are interested in, a visit to Kosovo is a must.
