Poland is a country that has seen many wars, wars that were fought in its very own soil. Warsaw which is Poland's capital city almost experienced complete destruction because of the Second World War. Today, Poland is a combination of the old and the new, attracting lots of tourists because of the various hiking trails and skiing spots not to mention the old towns that still have their beauty up to the present.
Poland has a gamut of natural tourist spots. There are natural parks as well as landscape parks. Most are included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. The Bialowieza National Park in Belarus is famous for its forest that houses wild European Bisons. The Karkonoski National Park is a must visit if you are interested in seeing beautiful falls. The adventurous at heart will love traversing on the Eagle's Path where Poland's highest peak may be found. Poland's castles are also interesting. Examples are the Wawel Castle and the Malbork Castle which showcase Gothic architecture.
