Asuncion

Asuncion is the capital and biggest city of Paraguay.
The city of Asuncion was founded in 1537 and until the 19th century was the capital of Southern Spanish South America. Its colonial heritage is visible in the many magnificent buildings, its grid planning system and the luxury villas remaining near the city.
Asuncion is situated on the east side of the Parana river on a small bay, which is dominated by the government buildings of Paraguay. The city is a good base for exploring the country, as it is by far the biggest transportation and communications hub of Paraguay, and there are many connections with the most interesting places in the country.
