Panama city has become a modern city but also keeps its history. In fact it's like having a trip back to the past when you go to the ruins of the Old City that was destroyed by the English pirate Morgan in 1673. In particular, in the museum of Panama Vieja you can find papers, objects about the way of life of the local people and of the Spanish domination.
Beside the ruins of the Old City, Panama city was rebuilt and in the Casco Viejo ( old district) there's its most characteristic area, plenty of colonial houses of the 17th Century.
When it became the financial centre of the country, Panama city saw the construction of its modern part with skyscrapers.
Do not miss the bright nightlife of Panama: there are discos and bars for every taste!
