Colon is a city located close to the entrance of Panama Canal and after its opening has become important in the country. Commercially it has the Colon Free Zone, the second largest duty-free area in the world.
Colon has the Gatun Locks, ideal place to see and understand the system process of the three locks of the Canal and watch the boats going in and out.
Another place to go for sure is Fort San Lorenzo, or what it remains of the old Spanish fort, destroyed by the pirate Henry Morgan, located inside the National Park where monkeys or toucans can be seen, crossing a nice forest.
