Sur

Sur is one of the most Northern ports of Oman.
The city of Sur is known for its long history as a trading port of the Arab nations. It is also one of the few places where boat craftsmanship is still alive with many working workshops for the traditional fishing dhows, which are still made completely by hand.
Sur can be used for a base for exploring the greater area, which holds interesting sites like the nearby Wadis, Wadi Tiwi, White Sands beach and Turtle Beach (Rus Al Hhad). At the Wadis there are many water sports opportunities, while at Ras Al Hhad, you can see endangered green back sea turtles laying eggs.
Be advised to carry a lot of drinking water while outside of the town of Sur, as the temperatures in the middle of the day may reach dangerous highs and drinking water is usually unavailable.
