The country of Oman is on the Arab peninsula, bordering the Gulf of Oman of the Indian sea in The Middle East.
Oman is one of the most calmly developing countries in the Arab world. After a bloodless coup in 1970 the country is ruled by the progressive Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said has put the country in the road to extensive, but obeying people's traditions, development, which led Oman to its state of steadily developing country without internal conflicts and struggles.
Historically Oman is a cradle of civilization from ancient times, with its people being amongst the first followers of Mohamed. The reigning denomination of Islam in Oman is Ibadi, which makes it the only country in the world with majority from this Islamic strand.
There are many points of interest in Oman, including tropical beaches near Salalah in the south, fjords in Musandam area to the north, picturesque mountains and canyons in the middle of the country and ancient cities that offer Portuguese or Medieval forts.
