Bergen is the second largest city of Norway. It has many nicknames, that characterize the way, that its inhabitants see their city - they often call it The Wooden City, The Rainy City, or The Capital of the Fjords. The first nickname comes from the fact, that most of its houses are wooden, while the second is due to the impressive 200 days of rain that Bergen has per year.
The nickname "Capital of the Fjords", on the other hand shows one of the main reasons for the tourists to visit this picturesque city - it is the closest point, from which tourists start their tours to the majestic Norwegian fjords to the North. The most known and impressive fjords accessible from Bergen are Nordfjord, Geirangerfjord and Romsdalsfjord.
Th city f Bergen itself also deserves attention, as it is full of museums and art galleries, which are worth visiting. It is considered the art capital of Norway and it attracts many young artists with its rainbow colored houses and beautiful surroundings.
