Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, is located at the heart of the country. It is a planned city, in that it was built to become the capital and replace Lagos.
The city is divided into districts, with the Central District housing the famous Aso Rock, the city's main feature. This is also Abuja's key business zone where many multinational corporations are located. Among the sites to see here are the Eagle Square, National Mosque, and the National Church of Nigeria.
The Garki and Wuse Districts are principally business areas, too. Here, tourists will find conference centres, luxury hotels, banks, shopping malls, and government offices such as a post office and the Federal Ministry of Information and Communications.
The Maitama District, meanwhile, is home to the upper class society and businesses of the country. It is also where most of the European embassies are located.
The Asokoro District is where the Presidential Palace is located and, therefore, is the most secured area in the city.
