Leon

Leon is the intellectual capital of Nicaragua in Central America.
The city of Leon incorporates a lively cultural life with one of the biggest universities in Central America and all this decorated with very nice colonial architecture.
Most notable places for a visit in Leon include the largest cathedral in Central America, nice collection of colonial churches, the University and several religious colleges. Around the city there are nice beaches in Poneloya Playa and on Juan Venado Island, while sand-boarding, trekking and hiking are available at Cerro Negro and Telica volcanoes.
