Nagarkot

Nagarkot is only 24 miles from Kathmandu on the northern edge of the Kathmandu Valley. The city is well known for its views to the Himalayan Mountains. Some say the sunrise reaching over the peaks is the most beautiful sunrise they have experienced. One of the hotels has a platform for viewing the sunrises and it is an experience only understood if you are there to enjoy it yourself. Trekking is so popular in and around the city that some feel it is the city's greatest pastime. Because of being so close to the mountains, mountain bike riding is one of the most popular attractions in Nagarkot. Also very popular in Nagarkot is bird watching, yoga, hiking or just relaxing and enjoying the many different cloud formations that seem to fly across the sky. The hotels in the city are first rate and are all located just below the highest peak in the city. Many visitors use the city as a base camp when enjoying long trekking excursions. Mount Everest can be seen on a clear morning.
