Yangon is the capital and biggest city of Myanmar. It is a place offering the mix of a modern fast developing city, which has also numerous very old historic monuments.
Yangon is known also with its gardens and lakes, which make it one of the most green cities in Asia. Its colonial heritage as the pot of Rangoon has left many colonial style building in its streets, which adds extra diversity to the city scenery.
The most notable ancient monuments of the city date from more than 2000 years before our time. The most famous Shwedagon Pagoda, which shadows all of Yangon's landscape is known with its glistening gold covering and is considered one of the best places for taking pictures near sunset.
Other known landmarks of Yangon are Sule Pagoda, which holds some of Buddha's hair, the Botataung Pagoda and the Kyauk Htat Gyi Pagoda with the 71 m. statue of Reclining Buddha.
