Rabat has been Morocco's capital city ever since 1912 and even after the country became independent from France. Just like other Moroccan cities, Rabat is divided into two: the medina or the traditional city and the modern part of Rabat which Moroccans have the French to thank for. Rabat is situated right on the Atlantic and is considered cosmopolitan just like Casablanca, though the ambiance in Rabat is more relaxed and less busy than that of Casablanca.
There are many sites to explore here and activities to enjoy. If you love the performing arts, you should visit the Mohammed V Theatre. If you just want to relax and have a good view of the sea, head to Kasbah where you'll find a cafe that's overlooking the sea and serves delicious tea and sweets. Want to go clubbing? Amnesia is the coolest club found in the Rue Monastir part of the city. Interested in history and culture? Check out the National Archaeological Museum. Rabat, just like most Moroccan cities, has something for everyone.
