Marrakech is a Morrocan city – the third biggest of all the cities that make up the country. It was the traders' destination during the ancient times. Today it is a tourist destination. Marrakech is a combination of the Old (the Medina) and the New (the Gueliz). The Medina is where historical attractions abound while Gueliz is where Marrakech's modern establishments are found e.g. designer stores, restaurants, etc.
The Djemaa El Fna is a place you should never pass up on visiting when in Marrakech. A music filled night, a gastronomic adventure – these are what you can expect from the Djemaa El Fna. For just a few Dirhams, you can enjoy the shows e.g. snake charmers' shows, dance performances, etc. The Koutoubia Mosque is another popular Marrakech attraction. Its minaret is comparable to Paris' Eiffel Tower, most especially during night time when the structure is lit all over. Marrakech dishes you should not forget to try include: fried aubergines, the harira and the Moroccan beef stew.
