Nosy Sainte Marie

The Islands of Sainte Marie are an archipelago in Madagascar, Africa.
The small group of islands known as Nosy Sainte Marie or Nosy Borahais situated to the east of the main island of Madagascar. They were known in the 18th and 19th century like pirate hideouts and remains of pirate ships and cemeteries are still available on the island of Ile aux Forbans (Island of Pirates).
Nowadays the Nosy Sainte Marie are one of the most visited tourist resort areas in Madagascar and they offer many seaside attractions like diving, surfing and sun bathing. They are also known for the fact that from here is possible to conduct whale-watching of humpback whales during their mating season, from July to September.
