Palanga is a resort town located in western Lithuania. With pristine beaches covering 18 km long and 300 m wide, it is the busiest seaside resort in the country. In fact, it's a prime destination during the summer between June and September, when all-night parties happen everyday and hordes of tourists converge on its shores.
However, aside from its seaside attractions, Palanga features a couple of intriguing cultural diversions for visitors looking to enjoy more than just chugging down alcoholic drinks and frolicking on the beach.
One of these tourist destinations is the Amber Museum, which is housed inside the magnificent 19th-century neo-Classical mansion of Count Tiškevičius. The museum has about 25,000 pieces of amber with most containing trapped animals and plants.
There's the Sculpture Garden which has 28 contemporary statues made by the top names in Lithuanian sculpture. Then, there's also the Anaičiai Ethnographic Cemetery with its collection of 19th- and 20th-century graves.
