Lithuania is the largest city of the Baltic states. Since acquiring its EU membership in 2004, the country has gained popularity, which encouraged more visitors to its shores.
It is a land of forests, lakes, and castles, as well as vast plains that are broken by sand dunes and hills. It's a country with a colourful history that once boasts a vast empire stretching from the Black to the Baltic Sea.
The capital, Vilnius, is among Europe's most enchanting cities with its Baroque architecture and old town charm. Its skyline is dominated by spires and rooftops of Catholic and Orthodox churches. Meanwhile, the port city of Klaipeda is a place to experience Lithuania's natural beauty, with the Curonian Spit - home to a menagerie of wildlife like deer, elk, and avian - right at its doorstep.
The country's 2nd largest city, Kaunas, is a sprawling urban city with a thriving industrial and cultural scene and a fascinating Old Town. For some seaside fun, the town of Palanga is the ideal place to be.
