Maseru is the capital and biggest city of Lesotho in Africa.
The city of Maseru begun its history in 1869, when it was founded by the British as a part of the protection offered to Lesotho from the British Empire. There are still several architectural landmarks, that represent this colonial legacy, but the city is mainly African in style and feel.
Maseru is the best base for exploring Lesotho, as it is the only really connected with the outside world place in the country. It also offers decent accommodation and good connections with some of the mot visited destinations in Lesotho.
The city itself has few landmarks like the historic cemetery and the fascinating King's Palace and Prime Minister's Residence. Most of the life of the city is concentrated on the central street of the city, called Kingsway for the occasion of a Royal visit by the British King in the 50s.
