Nairobi is Kenya's capital. ‘Nairobi' is a word which means “cool waters” and used to be a swampy area founded in the year 1899. Nairobi had to be burnt and rebuilt after the plagues spread during the 1900s. Today, despite Nairobi's ugly reputation of being a place where crime rates are high, it is still visited by a lot of people because of the night life and safaris that may be enjoyed there. The city is also known for a variety of cuisines you won't find in other Kenyan cities.
Nairobi is also known as Africa's safari capital, with various safaris and parks where you can have a closer look at the rich wild life. Though these natural Nairobi spots make up most of the city, modernization is still present. In fact, you'll come across modern restaurants, shopping areas and a gamut of entertaining activities when in the city. The Nairobi National Park, the Massai market and the Go-Down Arts Centre are examples of tourist attractions you can visit when in Nairobi.
