Mombasa is the second biggest Kenyan city. It is considered as the main travel destination in Kenya. Mombasa is popular because of its beaches, not to mention its various attractions, the tropical climate you can enjoy plus the gamut of activities people can do whether young or old. The city's origin dates back to the 16th century. Mombasa was ruled by several nationalities: the British, the Portuguese and the Arabs, which means that you can expect several cultures combined in this city.
Fort Jesus is Mombasa's most well known attraction. It showcases proofs of slavery and torture chambers. The 1952 Mombasa Tusks are also interesting and found in the city's entrance – the steel tusks were made in honour of Queen Elizabeth when she visited the area. One of the Mombasa beaches worth visiting is the Diani Beach, a beautiful white beach offering various water sports for the people. Mombasa is also famous for its diverse cuisines e.g. Indian, Italian, Korean, Chinese, amongst others.
