Malindi is a port city found on Kenya's East Coast. It is a place where lots of tourists hang out because of the beautiful white beaches found there. Various water sports such as diving, snorkelling, and sport fishing may be enjoyed in Malindi. Notable figures who spent time in this city include Ernest Hemingway who visited in the 1930s for the purpose of sport fishing, specifically looking for Wahoo, Sailfish, and Marlin, as well as Vasco de Gama who landed in Malindi when the natives of Mombasa drove him away. A pillar, the Vasco de Gama Pillar, was even built in commemoration of the event.
The Malindi Marine National Park is a top attraction of the city. The Park has fine beaches and waters that are home to brightly coloured fishes such as the parrot fishes, the hawk fishes, the puffers, the trigger fishes, and so many others. Coral reefs also abound which make the beaches in Malindi great for snorkelling and diving. The Watamu resort is also a must visit if you're in Malindi.
