Kazakhstan is a vast and largely unknown country in Northwest Asia
The country of Kazakhstan is the 9th in the world by territory, but populated by less than 16 million people. It is a place with ancient history, which gave birth of many of the nomadic peoples that later inhabited different parts of Europe. Regardless of this the inhabitants of Kazakhstan remained nomadic and this is the reason that they did not leave great number of artifacts and landmarks. One of the most intriguing heritage of the ancient times is the culture and traditions of the people, that are still preserved in many villages
Historically Kazakh people have emerged by mixing of different Turkic tribes over an extensive period of time. At the 10th century the Kazakh people accepted the Islam and this resulted in development of science and culture. By the 13th century this development was slowed down significantly due to constant Mongol attacks ending in conquest. Later they were part of the Russian empire and USSR
