The city of Madaba came back to life in the end of 19th century, when orthodox Christians settled there and discovered the Byzantine mosaics legacy of the city. The most known mosaic in Madaba is "The Palestinian map" od the 6th century, which is displayed in at the Orthodox Church of St. George.
