Killarney, located in south-western Ireland, is a municipality in Country Kerry. It sits at the periphery of the scenic Killarney National Park and is one of the country's widely favoured tourist destinations. It is situated along the popular Ring of Kerry route, a 179-kilometre stretch which offers the most stunning vista of County Kerry.   For more than 250 years, Killarney's attractions have been a source of joy for many visitors. The stunning peaks of Tomies, Crochane, Mangerton, and Torc are as old as the ice age. Thus, the town is ripe with interesting tales and legends which draw in more tourists.   Among the city's many attractions, is Muckross Abbey, which was established in 1448. The nearby Muckross House and Gardens is a perfect place for kids to frolic and play. Meanwhile, near Killarney National Park is the medieval tower of Ross Castle.   For those who want to do more than sightsee, activities in Killarney are many. Watch a game of Gaelic football, Ireland's national game. Or enjoy the Killarney SummerFest, which features concerts, children’s events, and art exhibits.
