The city of Cork, on the south western part of Ireland, sits on the banks of River Lee. It is the 2nd largest urban zone in the country as well as Ireland's 3rd most populous metropolis. Cork's population stands at more than 119,000 and adding the suburban areas around it bring the population total to about 190,000.   A great activity in Cork, as well as a nice introduction to city is ringing the bells of the Church of St. Anne. Located on a hill north of the city, this 1722 structure of limestone and sandstone is also a favourite among the locals.   From the church, head out to one of Cork's many attractions like the famous Franciscam Well Brewery. Built on a Franciscan monastery site, the microbrewery's Friar Weisse and Rebel Red is a must for tourists. But for something more filling a trip to some of Cork's restaurants is an adventure in itself. Try some Spanish tapas at Boqueria or savour affordable meals at Fenn's Quay Restuarant in Cork. For breakfast, head out to the English Market for some fresh produce and freshly made breakfast at Farmgate Cafe.
