Hyderabad is a huge Indian metropolis made up of historical and modern architectures. It competes with Chennai and Bangalore for the name ‘India's IT Capital'. Hyderabad is a 400 year old city also known as ‘Cyberabad', specifically because of the fact that it houses Google's and Microsoft's headquarters.
The name Hyderabad was inspired by sultan Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah's love for Bhagmati – a courtesan who converted to Islam and used the name ‘Hyder Mahal'. Hyderabad's Old City is considered the historical area while the New City is the contemporary section. Chaminar, a structure built on the spot where Quli Qutb Shah prayed for the ending of the plague, and the Chowmahalla Palace, the edifice where the Nizam entertained guests, are highly recommended Old City attractions. Hyderabad's New City offers interesting sites too like the AP State Museum and Ramoji Film City. A visit to Hyderabad won't be complete without sampling Hyderabad Biryani, a popular Indian rice dish.
