Husavik is a picturesque harbour town located on the northeastern region of Iceland. Its colourful houses cascading towards the Skjalfandi Bay and the snow-capped mountains of the Viknafjoll visible across the bay make it the idyllic destination for travellers in the northeast coast. It is the whale-watching capital of the country as well as the world, with whale sightings that go over 95 percent of trips made there during the summer.
And because Husavik is known for whales, it is only commonsense for it to have Whale Museum, and an award-winning one at that. Additionally, it also gained popularity as a curio tourist destination for having the bizarre but unique Phallological Museum. This may very well be the only museum that houses phallic specimens of over 90 mammals that live in Iceland.
Apart from visiting the museums and whale-watching, the town offers visitors a chance to see the beautiful countryside on a horse. While here, enjoy the local cuisine from a waterfront restaurant.
