Tegucigalpa

Tegucigalpa is the capital and biggest city of Honduras.
The city of Tegucigalpa is strategically located in the central of Honduras, which makes it an important transportation hub. The city was almost completely destroyed by 1998 hurricane Mitch and has been rapidly rebuild. The city is quite extensive, as ti is mainly two leveled buildings laying on a vast area of valleys and hills.
Tegucigalpa is a good starting point for exploration of Honduras as it has a vast infrastructure and any part of the country is relatively easy accessible by the capital.
If you choose Tegucigalpa as your base, you may wish to visit the near-by towns of Santa Lucia, Valle de Angeles, Danli and Yuscaran. At the doorsteps of Tegucigalpa is the beautiful Honduran National Park "La Tigra", which is a wonderful hiking destination.
