Greenland is a self-governing state inside the Kingdom of Denmark, positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean, at the east side of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Although geographically it is a fraction of North America's continent, Greenland has been civilized and political allied with the Europe continent (particularly Norway and afterward Denmark) for a millennium and more. The etymology of the name, Greenland originates from the early Scandinavian colonists. It is told that a Norwegian called Erik the Red had been sent away from Iceland for killing someone. Alongside he accompanied with his family and his thralls to northeast. After establishing there, he gave to the region the name Greenland, apparently in the expectation that the pleasurable name would magnetize settlers
