Accra is the busy capital of Ghana in West Africa.
The city of Accra is one of the biggest cities of Ghana and offers all the modern attractions of a big city. It holds many memorials and landmarks of the recent history of Ghana and its struggle for independence from the British Empire.
Some of those landmarks include the Perpetual Flame at the Cenotaph in Revolution Square, the Liberation Square and memorial, the graves of first President Kwame Nkrumah and of W. E. B. Du Bois.
Other interesting places to visit include the rich National Museum, the the Makola Market and the craft market near by, the tropical gardens and the popular Art Centre of Accra.
There are several nice beaches around Accra with Labadi and Kokrobite being the most popular but quite crowed on weekends. If you prefer more secluded beaches you'll need to travel to the Ada beach situated on the mouth of the Volta River.
