One of the three Baltic States alongside Latvia and Lithuania -and probably the most beautiful one- Estonia is one of the least populous countries in Europe.Although only 1.3 million people lives there, it is actually bigger than Denmark or Holland. Despite being a former part of Soviet Union, today Estonia ranks highly in human rights, media freedom and democracy. It is considered as a developed, country with high income.
Being the European Capital of Culture in 2011, Estonia has a lot to offer to its visitors. Tallin ,the biggest city of the country, stands apart with its well protected and intact medieval old town area. Tartu ,the second biggest city, is a young, university town and its residents pride in throwing the best parties in the country. Finland is just a short ferry trip away and probably that´s why -despite the Soviet invasion for decades- Estonian culture is more inspired by Nordic tastes and way of living.
