The country that gave birth to one of the world's oldest and greatest civilisations needs no introduction. Egypt is home to a magnificent collection of temples, hieroglyphs, archaic ruins, mummies, and the famed Pyramids of Giza. It stirs the imagination of so many people around the globe they come here in droves each year. Despite its arid weather conditions, Egypt is one of the world's top tourist destinations.
And why not? Cairo, even with its chaotic lifestyle, boasts of a medieval core that has never changed since the beginnings of Islam. Luxor features some of the most archaic monuments and burial chambers including Thebes. And Aswan is home to more imposing temples that testify to the omnipotence of the pharaohs.
The equally ancient and revered Nile River is best explored in a felucca or Egyptian sailboat, while the Red Sea sparkles with an abundance of aquatic life. Indeed, Egypt's attractions lie not only in its ancient treasures, but also among its people and nature.
