Quito

Quito is the capital and the biggest city of Ecuador. Located in an amazing valley, it is surrounded by volcanic hills and mountains. Before even doing anything, its location will leave you speechless. Quito is world´s first city to be named a Unesco World Heritage city and the reason is quite obvious. It was founded on an ancient Inca city and the old town is an amazing colonial splendor. Heavy Spanish influence can be seen in the architecture of the buildings in the city center. 
It may take a while to get used to the altitude since the city is located 2850 meters above the sea level. If you want to fully explore the city, having a basic Spanish language knowledge is vital since it is difficult to find locals who speak English.
