Larnaca is believed to be the oldest city in the country of Cyprus, with inhabitants as early as six thousand years ago. In the past, the city was known as ‘Kition' and was established by the Phoenicians. In the center of Larnaca you'll find the Old Town which houses older attractions. Along the beaches of Larnaca, modern structures such as restaurants and hotels are found. Larnaca is a small area which means walking is the usual way you can enjoy the whole city.
One of the most popular Larnaca attractions is the Church of St. Lazarus, understood to be built on the tomb of the biblical character Lazarus, the man Jesus resurrected. For a romantic walk, head to the Larnaca Promenade specifically at night. Diving enthusiasts will love exploring the Zenobian wreck also found in Larnaca, which is a ferry which sunk in the year 1980.
