San Jose

San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica and is the main hub of the country. It has various hotels, shopping centres, bar and restaurants, not to mention the University of Costa Rica, the embassies and the primary airport. The city of San Jose was founded in the year 1737 and today is a lively and colourful Costa Rican metropolis.
There are various San Jose tourist spots worth visiting. The Museo Oro Precolombino is an interesting attraction which displays more than a thousand Pre-Columbian jewelleries made of gold. The Insect Museum is a must visit if you are interested in viewing a fascinating collection of exotic bugs. Most of San Jose hotels have casinos, with the Casino del Rey being the most famous. The Mercado Artesania is a highly recommended stop for souvenirs. Of course, you should also fill your stomach with delectable local dishes such as the Sopa de Pescado, the Ceviche, etc from San Jose's Mercado Central as your trip won't be complete without a taste of Costa Rican cuisine.
