La Fortuna

La Fortuna de San Carlos is a town in the northern portion of Costa Rica which became famous for the Arenal Volcano. The nearby volcano has been erupting in a constant manner ever since 1968. La Fortuna's name signifies good luck -- being near the volcano proves that the town's luck has not run out yet because of the lively tourism industry brought about by the Arenal Volcano.
Aside from the volcano and the thrilling eruptions, other sites and activities are offered by La Fortuna. There's the Fortuna Waterfall that you can reach by horse. See to it that you bring a bathing suit so you can enjoy immersing in the warm stream. The Cano Negro Wild Life Refuge is also a must see as it houses countless birds, various species of monkeys and several interesting animals such as the iguanas, caimans, etc. The Mighty Rio Toro is also worth checking out especially for white water rafting. La Fortuna is truly rich in natural attractions, enticing lots of people to come visit.
